Zante nightlife: Laganas and the Greece that never sleeps
Zante means Laganas. One street, two kilometres, thirty-odd bars and clubs pressed together, and a reputation that pulls British students across Europe every summer. The rest of the island is completely quiet, which makes the contrast sharper still.

The Laganas Strip
Two kilometres you can walk end to end. Bars fill from 10 pm to 1 am, clubs take over until 6. Entry is almost always free, the model runs on drinks and organised bar crawls. The crowd is mostly British, Irish and Scandinavian, 18 to 25.
The long-standing clubs
Cocktails & Dreams, Rescue Club, Zeros and Base have shared the street for years. Rescue is the biggest, Zeros opens latest, Cocktails & Dreams is the one films name. Each runs its own themed night per weekday, and the schedules are set against each other so they do not clash.
Boat parties and Navagio
Days happen on the water. Boats leave Laganas or Porto Vromi for Navagio, the shipwreck beach, and the blue caves. DJ and open bar trips run through the afternoon and are back by 6 pm, just in time to sleep before the night. It is also where you see the loggerhead turtles: Laganas bay is a protected zone.
Budget and logistics
Around 5 to 8 euros a cocktail on the Strip, 25 to 45 for a boat party with open bar, and stay in Laganas itself so you never depend on taxis. The airport is ten minutes away. The season is short: outside June to September the street is dead and most venues are shut.
Which month to pick
The window is short and sharp. June opens slowly, July and August are packed, the first half of September stays busy and then it drops off at once. By late September half the Strip has already shut. In May or October the island is beautiful but the nightlife does not exist: it is not the season.

What people ask us
When should you go to Zante to party?+
Mid-June to early September. July and August are the full months. In May or October the island is beautiful but the Strip is dark.
Where to stay for nightlife in Zante?+
In Laganas, as close to the Strip as you can. Kalamaki is ten minutes away and far quieter, which suits you if you want to sleep. The rest of the island is too far without a car.
Is it expensive?+
No. Club entry is usually free and drinks run 5 to 8 euros. The real budget goes on boat parties and organised crawls.
Zante or Malta?+
Zante is more concentrated, younger and has a shorter season. Malta has more variety, a longer season and bigger clubs. Zante is a week, Malta is somewhere you return to.
What age is the crowd in Zante?+
Mostly 18 to 25 on the Laganas Strip, heavily British and Irish. Past thirty you feel out of place in Laganas fast: Kalamaki, Tsilivi and Argassi offer calmer nights on the same island.
