Mykonos nightlife: beach clubs and the night in Chora
Mykonos is the most expensive island in Greece and makes no secret of it. You come for sunsets over a DJ booth, beach clubs that charge hotel money for a sunbed, and a club on a cliff that opens when the others close.

The south and its beach clubs
Paradise Beach and Super Paradise carry the island's reputation. Tropicana and Paradise Club run the party from afternoon into the evening on the sand. Scorpios, at Paraga, plays a different game: sunset, slower music, a Sunday ritual. Nammos, at Psarou, is less a club than a place to be seen.
Cavo Paradiso, after everyone else
The cliff club opens at 2 am and runs to sunrise, with the summer's international headliners. It is where the night ends once the beach clubs shut. A shuttle climbs up from Paradise Beach.
Chora, the town
The white lanes of Chora hold the bars, from Little Venice where you watch the sun drop to the smaller clubs in the centre. It is more affordable than the beach clubs and it is where the early evening happens.
The real budget
Mykonos needs planning. A front-row sunbed runs 80 to 300 euros depending on the club and the day, a cocktail 15 to 25, club entry 20 to 60. It is entirely possible to go out without ruining yourself by staying around Chora and the public beaches, but you have to decide that in advance.
Which month to pick
Beach clubs open in late May, build through June, saturate in August and close in early October. August has the highest prices and the fullest beaches. June and September are the sweet spot: everything is open, rates come down and you can still find a sunbed without booking three weeks ahead. Cavo Paradiso follows the same calendar.

What people ask us
Is Mykonos really that expensive?+
Yes for the Psarou and Paradise beach clubs, no for the rest. The bars in Chora, the public beaches and the tavernas stay at Greek prices. The gap comes from which venues you pick, not the island.
When does the season start?+
The first clubs open in late May, the peak is August, and most close in early October. September is often the best trade-off between atmosphere and crowds.
Do you need a vehicle?+
Buses link Chora to the main beaches until late, and shuttles serve the clubs. A quad or scooter gives more freedom but the roads are narrow and the nights are long.
What is the most famous club in Mykonos?+
Cavo Paradiso for the night, Scorpios for sunset, Paradise Club for the party on the sand. The three are nothing alike and fit into the same day.
Is there a dress code in Mykonos?+
At the Psarou and Paraga beach clubs, in practice yes: put some effort in, no swimwear alone in the evening, and trainers go down badly in the busiest places. Cavo Paradiso and the Chora clubs are much more relaxed.
What is the minimum age to get in?+
18, and ID is checked at the door of the big clubs. Some beach clubs apply a stricter policy in the evening.
