No visa, and an ID card is enough
EU nationals enter Albania without a visa, for stays of up to ninety days in any one hundred and eighty day period. The entry document can be a valid national identity card: a passport is not required. Many people do not know this, and it makes last-minute trips a great deal simpler.
Document validity, the one real trap
The document you present must be valid for at least three more months. This is the rule that catches people out, because they check their card has not expired without checking by how much. A card expiring in two months can be refused even though it is still valid. Check that date when you book, not the night before you fly.
What border officers can ask for
Officially the authorities may ask for proof of accommodation, a return or onward ticket, and sufficient funds. In practice these checks are rare for a short tourist stay, but they do happen. Having the hotel booking on your phone costs nothing and settles it. Travel insurance is recommended but not compulsory.
Stamps, and why not getting one is normal
Travellers from the EU and the European Economic Area generally receive neither an entry nor an exit stamp. This is not an oversight or a problem: it is the procedure. There is no need to ask for a stamp on the way out thinking something will be missing from your record.
